Snowhenge

Crown Point students taking Astronomy with Mr. Barney constructed a 1/8 scale model of the famous Stonehenge out of snow calling their project “Snowhenge.”  Why, you might ask? Scientists do not know who the creators of this landmark in southern England were, but it is generally agreed that this structure was the first calendar. The class studied the findings and locations of various points on the stone circle that aligned with the Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice and the two Equinoxes and built their model in alignment with Planetary North and South. Credit should be given to Jeremy Dorr and Walter Worth for assisting with creating the project.
